El Purepecha also excels in its salads, such as the Grilled Steak Salad at $23, which is ideal for those seeking a hearty yet refreshing meal. Each salad is crafted to perfection, ensuring a delightful balance of flavors that characterizes all that El Purepecha stands for.
As for the appetizers, you must try the Choriqueso ($19) – a melty, cheesy delight that pairs perfectly with crispy tortilla chips. The Elote Dip ($16), bursting with the sweetness of corn and the heat of serrano chiles, is another beloved choice among patrons, enhancing the appetizer selection to its fullest.
Not only is the food exceptional, but the service is also noted for being friendly and accommodating. Customers have praised the staff for their attentiveness, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. Finally, let’s not forget the refreshingly delicious margaritas that have received rave reviews, particularly the mango and strawberry flavors. The drinks are a perfect companion to the flavorful meals and add a fun twist to any dining occasion.
In essence, El Purepecha is more than a restaurant; it's a celebration of Mexican culture through food. Whether you come for the enticing sopes, the mouthwatering choriqueso, or the thirst-quenching margaritas, every visit promises to be an exploration of taste that leaves you wanting more. Don’t miss out on this culinary treasure in Philadelphia!
“ came here yesterday with friends, and the food was absolutely amazing and their margaritas were delicious. (we tried the mango and strawberry) this place has probably one of the best burritos or if not the best in philly! The service was good, but it was a couple of times where we felt like the service was slow because we wanted to order more drinks and the server didn’t ask us for a last call drink before closing us out, but other than that no complaints. Top spot! ”
“ Delicious spot with quick service! We arrived with a party of 6 and were seated easily. I recommend the choriqueso as the shared appetizer because it's very good and easy to share! The birria tacos were exceptionally good, with very savoury and rich consomme. I also really liked the Jamaica here. Friendly (and patient with our rowdyness) service that kept our glasses full and plates cleared! Perfect place for a night out with friends! ”
“ Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in a while! Excellent drinks, top notch food and service was amazing! Try the nachos... you will not be disappointed. ”
“ Service and food were both stellar. The best beef fajitas I’ve had in Philly. Chips and queso were excellent, a rare treat up here. Becky, our server, was so fabulous. Can’t wait to bring our teen here, he’s gonna love it. ”
“ First and foremost, our server William was pleasant and friendly. We started off with the Jamaica, which were a bit rich, but chasing it down with water helped a lot. Then we ordered our food. Nacho supreme with Asada was really tasty. It had distinct yet refined flavors, and out plate was empty in no time. We then opted to try out the Octopus tacos, which were amazing also. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. ”
“ I really enjoyed my visit to El Purepecha and would definitely make a return visit. The Birria tacos were crispy and had the right amount of filling; the cheese pull was amazing! The consome had lots of flavor and complimented the tacos very well. The slightly tart and refreshing mango mojito was a perfect compliment to the tacos. The churros were cooked perfectly with a crispy exterior and a slight chew in the center. ”
“ It was absolutely delicious. I had a torta and my wife had chicken tacos. We also split the guac and chips. It was all a 10/10. Certainly a great authentic Mexican spot in Philly. Nice atmosphere, too. ”
“ The best cheese with chorizo that I’ve had. I don’t understand the comments of people saying that it’s bad because it was perfection. If you really want authentic and Mexican food, come here. I do have to criticize the margaritas cause they had a lot of ice. But otherwise staff friendly, good vibes, good food. ”
